The skipper of the India National Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the IPL, Virat Kohli, has confirmed that he will open the batting for RCB in IPL 2021. Notably, Virat Kohli decided to promote himself in the batting order of the Indian team on Saturday as India took on England in the fifth T20I.
The decision proved to be fruitful for the team as both, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma brought carnage to the crease and stitched a match-winning partnership for the Indian team. Virat top-scored for the Men in Blue as he scored 80 runs and returned not-out to the crease as India posted a total of 224 runs for 2 wickets in their 20 overs.
Virat Kohli opened the innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore throughout IPL 2016 and he had the best season in his IPL history. He broke a flurry of records throughout the season as he scored 4 breath-taking centuries in a single edition to end the tournament with 973 runs as he ended as the league’s highest run-scorer in a single season.
Now, speaking after the post-match ceremony in the final T20I of the series, Virat said,
The IPL 2021 is all slated to begin from April 09 this year. The first match of IPL 2021 will take place between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The BCCI has finalized six centers for IPL 2021 with no team being allotted home and neutral venues.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have been one of the star-studded teams in the history of the Indian Premier League as they have boasted a lot of superstars over the years but have not managed to win a single trophy until now. They have managed to reach the final three times but have been on the losing end every time they have qualified for the final of the tournament.
