The Australian Under-19 team is set to tour India next month. During the tour, the team will play three 50-over matches and two four-day matches in Rajkot and Ahmedabad. Australia has announced a 16-member squad for the tour, which includes 16-year-old player of Indian origin, Neel Patel.

Fast bowlers Will Byrom and Casey Barton will captain the 16-member Australian squad for the upcoming tour. Neel Patel, who represents the University of New South Wales Cricket Club, has become one of the youngest players to score over 1,000 runs in a single calendar year in Sydney Premier Cricket First Grade. Meanwhile, Byrom and Barton are the two squad members who participated in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year.

In the Under-19 World Cup, 17-year-old Byrom delivered an impressive performance, taking 10 wickets at an average of 10.50, while Barton claimed four wickets; however, the Australian team suffered a 27-run defeat against England in the semi-finals.

Sonya Thompson, Head of National Development at Cricket Australia, said, "We are delighted to provide some of Australia's best young players the opportunity to continue their development through our pathways program. Touring India and playing against strong teams in challenging conditions will be an invaluable experience. It will test the players' technique and mental resilience across all formats."

The 12-member squad includes several players who regularly play for their respective state teams, including Joel Davies, who recently made his T20 debut for Australia.
