BAN vs AUS ODI Series: Bangladesh Announces Squad for First Two ODIs
With the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind, all teams are now striving to play more series in this format; as part of this endeavor, Bangladesh is set to host Australia for a three-match ODI series commencing on June 9. In addition to the ODI series, the Australian team will also play a three-match T20 series in Bangladesh, scheduled to begin on June 17.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced its squad for the first two matches of the upcoming ODI series against Australia, marking the return of spin all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain after a long hiatus of nearly four years.
Two Changes from the ODI Series Against New Zealand:
Bangladesh played their previous ODI series—a three-match contest against New Zealand—at home in April, which they successfully won by a margin of 2-1. Compared to that previous squad, two changes have been made to the team announced for the upcoming series: Mahidul Islam and Afif Hossain have been dropped from the squad, while Mosaddek Hossain and Nurul Hasan have been included. Speaking of Mosaddek Hossain, he played his last ODI match in August 2022 and had been out of the team since then.
Mosaddek Hossain has played 43 ODI matches to date, in which he has scored 634 runs at an average of 25.36, while also claiming 17 wickets. Mosaddek's path back to the ODI squad was paved by his stellar performance in the Dhaka Premier League, where he played one century and two half-century innings this season. With the ball, Mosaddek took a total of 11 wickets.
