Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana ruled out of T20I series on England tour

Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana have been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the T20I series against England due to hamstring injuries. Confirming the news, the BCCI stated that both players are injured.

India's Poor Performance-

Team India, already facing consecutive defeats in the T20I series against England, has suffered further setbacks. Just as hopes for a comeback in the series remained alive, the team was dealt a major blow. Star spinner Varun Chakravarthy and fast bowler Harshit Rana have been ruled out of the remaining two T20I matches due to injury.

The BCCI issued an official statement confirming this information. Both Harshit and Varun sustained injuries during the third T20I match at Trent Bridge. Following an assessment by the medical team, they have been ruled out of the fourth and fifth T20Is. The BCCI stated that Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy suffered hamstring injuries during the third T20I at Trent Bridge; the medical team examined them, and they have been ruled out of the fourth and fifth T20Is.

Captain Shreyas Iyer also confirmed the players' absence during the toss before the fourth T20I. He announced that Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna had been included in the playing XI for the match. Iyer said, "There are two changes in our team. Varun and Harshit are injured, so Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna will play in their place."

Mounting Challenges for India-

Varun Chakravarthy had recently returned to the team after recovering from a toe injury (toe fracture). That injury had kept him out of the T20I series against Ireland, where India suffered a 0-2 defeat. His return for the England series was expected to bolster the team, but his absence due to injury comes as a major blow to India. Meanwhile, this marks the second major setback for fast bowler Harshit Rana in a very short span of time.

Previously, he was ruled out of the T20 Cup due to a knee injury that required surgery; consequently, he missed the entire IPL season. After making a comeback during the Ireland series, injury has once again sidelined him from the team.
