IPL 2021: Virat Kohli To Open The Batting For Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) In The Tournament

The skipper of the India National Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the IPL, Virat Kohli, has confirmed that he will open the batting for RCB in IPL 2021. Notably, Virat Kohli decided to promote himself in the batting order of the Indian team on Saturday as India took on England in the fifth T20I.

The decision proved to be fruitful for the team as both, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma brought carnage to the crease and stitched a match-winning partnership for the Indian team. Virat top-scored for the Men in Blue as he scored 80 runs and returned not-out to the crease as India posted a total of 224 runs for 2 wickets in their 20 overs.

Virat Kohli Confirms He Will Open The Batting For Royal Challengers Bangalore In IPL 2021

Virat Kohli opened the innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore throughout IPL 2016 and he had the best season in his IPL history. He broke a flurry of records throughout the season as he scored 4 breath-taking centuries in a single edition to end the tournament with 973 runs as he ended as the league’s highest run-scorer in a single season.

Now, speaking after the post-match ceremony in the final T20I of the series, Virat said,

“I am going to open in the IPL as well. Have batted in different positions in the past.”

Notably, Indian batsman Devdutt Padikkal will open the innings alongside Virat in this year’s edition after his fantastic run in the last season.

IPL 2021 All Set To Start From April 09

The IPL 2021 is all slated to begin from April 09 this year. The first match of IPL 2021 will take place between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The BCCI has finalized six centers for IPL 2021 with no team being allotted home and neutral venues.
