Indias head coach Ravi Shastri has been put under isolation after his lateral flow test for COVID-19 turned out to be positive on Saturday (September 4) evening. Along with Shastri, the bowling coach Bharat Arun. fielding coach R Sridhar and physiotherapist Nitin Patel have also been kept under isolation as a precautionary measure

"They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team," said a statement from BCCI.

The rest of Indias team members have been allowed to go to the ground on the fourth day after they returned negative on two lateral flow tests.

The lateral flow tests are used to get results quicker but are confirmed by the RT-PCR tests which is considered to have better reliability. There isnt a strict bio-bubble in place for this series and team members are allowed to go outdoors in England in a controlled environment after being fully vaccinated, and with the advice of not mixing with the public as much as possible. Both teams are in separate hotels with dedicated floors allotted to them but other parts of the hotels are open for public as well.
