Bhagat Singh was born on September 28, 1907 in Banga village in Punjab. His father, Sardar Kishan Singh, was a freedom fighter. Bhagat Singh received his education from Dayanand Anglo Vedic College, Lahore.
Bhagat Singh's revolutionary journey began when he participated in a demonstration to protest the Simon Commission, after the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. During this demonstration, the police lathi-charged Lala Lajpat Rai, leading to his death. Bhagat Singh decided to avenge this incident.
In 1928, Bhagat Singh along with Chandrashekhar Azad assassinated Sir Stanley Jackson, a member of the Simon Commission. This incident created a stir across the country. Bhagat Singh and his companions were now among the most wanted criminals in the country.
In 1929, Bhagat Singh and his companions were arrested in the Lahore Conspiracy Case. In this case, he was accused of conspiring to kill a member of the Simon Commission as well as government officials.
Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Rajguru were found guilty in this case and were sentenced to death. On March 23, 1931, these three revolutionaries were hanged in Lahore jail.
