Ravindra Jadeja’s move into politics follows the path of his wife, who has been with the BJP since 2019.
Rivaba Jadeja, a BJP MLA from Gujarat, contested the Jamnagar Assembly seat in 2022, where she emerged victorious by defeating AAP candidate Karshanbhai Karmur. Her entry into politics has been marked by success, and now her husband is set to explore the same terrain.
This development comes at a pivotal time for the BJP, as the party is currently conducting a large-scale membership drive in Gujarat, aiming to recruit 2 crore primary members. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s home state is central to the party’s long-term strategy. In Ahmedabad, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and state BJP president CR Paatil renewed their memberships as part of this drive.

He urged BJP members to broaden the party’s reach, especially among women, in anticipation of the 33% reservation for women in legislatures. After India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win, Jadeja confirmed his decision via social media, sharing a photo of himself holding the World Cup trophy following India’s thrilling 7-run victory over South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
