Can Virat Kohli break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 centuries?

Virat Kohli, often known as King Kohli, has returned to his regular role of saving Team India for the first time since 2019 after scoring back-to-back hundreds in one-day international cricket, his preferred format. In the last match of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, Virat broke his three-year-plus century drought in the 50-over format. The very following ODI between Team India and Sri Lanka served to make it much sweeter for his admirers as he smashed another one. Virat now has the final century of 2022 and the first century of 2023. This was Virat's ninth century against Sri Lanka, giving him nine or more against two countries overall.

Will Sachin Tendulkar's ODI record be beaten by Virat Kohli?

Today against Sri Lanka in ODI cricket, Virat Kohli hit his 45th century. Virat has batted in 257 of the 266 ODIs he has participated in, totaling 12,584 runs at an astounding average of 57.72. The talismanic hitter has 45 three-figure runs and 64 fifties in his career to date.

In contrast, Sachin Tendulkar has participated in nearly twice as many games as Virat. He has played for India in 463 matches, and in 452 of those innings, he batted and scored 18426 runs, which is the highest by any batter in ODI cricket history. He has a strike rate of 86.24 and an average of 44.83. The Master Blaster also has the most centuries scored, 49 in total.

Will Virat score 100 centuries?

Given that age is not on Virat Kohli's side, it is quite improbable that he would be able to beat Sachin Tendulkar's record for most centuries. The Indian cricket squad is already looking beyond him at age 34. Additionally, he stated in one of his interviews that he does not consider cricket as his entire life and that he will declare his retirement when the time comes. As a result, Virat Kohli won't try to prolong his cricketing career. He won't have any more century than Sachin as a result.

According to my estimation, we have lost two years' worth of hundreds from Kohli, but if he continues to play until 38 or 39, he very well may make up the deficit and achieve that level. After all, the monarch in form doesn't make a great deal out of scoring 5–6 centuries every year. However, the lean period has changed the surety I had for the 100 hundreds into a possibility. a chance if all goes according to plan.
