The Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings scheduled for May 11 has been shifted from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad.
Anil Patel, secretary of Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the development, saying: 'The match had to be shifted at the last minute, so the BCCI asked if we could host it, and we have formally informed them that we are ready for it.'
With several airports including Dharamsala, Jammu and Chandigarh being shut due to Operation Sindoor, Mumbai Indians were unable to fly to Dharamsala on Wednesday. This led to efforts to shift the match out of Himachal Pradesh.
While Mumbai was initially considered as an alternate venue, Ahmedabad was eventually chosen so that no team would get a home ground advantage.
Punjab Kings are expected to reach Ahmedabad via New Delhi. "The teams will arrive in Delhi and then leave for Ahmedabad," a source said.
Punjab Kings have made Dharamsala their home ground for three matches this season - against Lucknow Super Giants (May 3), Delhi Capitals (May 8) and Mumbai Indians (May 11). The team won the first of these matches played at LSG by 37 runs.
