India continued its impressive campaign in shooting at the Asian Games 2026, winning the silver medal in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions team event. The Indian trio of Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod Kochalumkal and Ashi Chouksey finished the qualification round with a combined score of 1763 points.
China won the gold medal with 1773 points, while Kazakhstan secured the bronze with 1754 points.
India Secure Silver Medal in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions
The Indian team remained in medal contention throughout the qualification round. Strong performances across the kneeling, prone and standing positions helped India finish second in the team standings.
Tilottama Sen and Ashi Chouksey made a strong start, while Vidarsa Vinod Kochalumkal recovered well after facing difficulties during the early kneeling stage.
India eventually finished with 1763 points to claim the silver medal.
Tilottama Sen Qualifies for 50m Rifle 3P Individual Final
Tilottama Sen produced a consistent performance across all three positions. She scored 590 points to finish third in the individual qualification standings.
Her top-three finish earned her a place in the eight-shooter individual final. Tilottama's performance also made a significant contribution to India's team medal.
Vidarsa Vinod Joins Tilottama in Asian Games Shooting Final
Vidarsa Vinod Kochalumkal also secured her place in the individual final after finishing sixth with 588 points.
She made a strong recovery after a difficult start in the kneeling round. Her performances in the prone and standing stages helped her move back into the top eight.
With two Indian shooters qualifying, India will have two medal contenders in the individual final.
Ashi Chouksey Finishes 15th After Strong Team Performance
Ashi Chouksey finished 15th with 585 points and missed out on the individual final.
Despite not reaching the individual medal round, Ashi's score was crucial to India's team result. Her performance, combined with the scores of Tilottama and Vidarsa, helped India finish with a total of 1763 points.

China Win Gold as India Take Silver in 50m Rifle 3P
China topped the team standings with 1773 points and secured the gold medal. India finished second with 1763 points, while Kazakhstan took bronze with 1754 points.

How India Reached the Podium in the 50m Rifle 3P Event
The 50m Rifle 3 Positions event includes three shooting positions - kneeling, prone and standing. During qualification, shooters complete 20 shots in each position.
For the team event, the scores of all three shooters are combined to determine the final team ranking. The top eight eligible individual shooters qualify for the final, with a maximum of two shooters from each country allowed to advance.
India's combined score of 1763 was enough to secure the silver medal.
Tilottama and Vidarsa Eye Another Medal in Individual Final
After securing the team silver, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod Kochalumkal will now focus on the individual final.
Tilottama qualified in third place with 590 points, while Vidarsa finished sixth with 588 points. Both shooters will now look to convert their strong qualification performances into another medal for India at the Asian Games 2026.
