Asian Games 2026: The stage is officially set for the knockout rounds of the men's cricket tournament at the 2026 Asian Games. The picture has become entirely clear following the conclusion of all Group A matches. The Indian team, considered the top contender for the gold medal, will face Afghanistan in their opening knockout fixture the quarter-final.

The final Group A match between Japan and Nepal, scheduled for Saturday, September 26, was washed out due to bad weather and rain. With the cancellation of this match, the quarter-final clash between India and Afghanistan was confirmed.
Notably, Nepal had previously gained an advantage by defeating Afghanistan in an earlier match. Thanks to the points secured following the washout against Japan, Nepal officially topped Group A and is now set to face Sri Lanka.
Top Asian Teams Secure Direct Entry into Asian Games Knockouts
Apart from India and Sri Lanka, two other Asian powerhouses, Pakistan and Bangladesh, have also directly qualified for the quarter-finals. However, the teams' strategies appear different for this tournament:
- Pakistan: Entering the field with a new and revamped squad under the captaincy of Sahibzada Farhan.
- India & Bangladesh: These two teams have fielded their strongest, first-choice squads for this multi-sport event.
