Australia's spin bowler Nathan Lyon wreaked havoc on New Zealand's batsmen in the first Test. In front of Lathan's spinning balls, the Kiwi batting order fell apart like a pack of cards and while chasing the target of 369 runs, the entire team was reduced to 196 runs. The Kangaroo spinner took six wickets in the second innings and 10 wickets in the match. With this deadly spell, Lion has also registered a world record in his name.
Nathan Lyon has created history by taking five wickets in the second innings of the first test. After Australia, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies, Lion has now become the first bowler in the world to take five wickets in an innings on New Zealand soil. Lion achieved the feat of taking five wickets in an innings for the 24th time in his Test career.

In the second innings, Nathan Lyon wreaked havoc on the New Zealand batsmen. On the fourth day of the Test, Lion first showed the way to the pavilion to Rachin Ravindra. After this Lion dismissed Tom Blundell. Glenn Phillips, who scored a half-century in the first innings, could not do anything special with the bat in the second innings and became the victim of Lion. The Kangaroo spinner also took the wicket of Kiwi captain Tim Southee. Lion took 6 wickets while spending 65 runs in the second innings.
