The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will start today (22 March). In the first match, the teams of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will face each other. In this match, Chennai team will enter the field with its new captain.

2009 IPL Final RCB vs DC: In the second season of IPL (2009), the final match was played between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore. This match took place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Deccan Chargers had scored 143 runs at the loss of 6 wickets, in reply Bangalore could score only 137 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Deccan Chargers won the match by 6 runs. Anil Kumble was chosen player of the match.

2011 IPL Final CSK vs RCB: In the fourth season of IPL (2011), the final match was played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. This match took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After winning the toss and batting first, Chennai scored 205 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. In reply, RCB could score only 147 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Chennai won the final match by 58 runs. Murali Vijay was chosen player of the match.

2016 IPL Final RCB vs SRH: The final match in IPL 2016 was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. This match took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Hyderabad won the toss and batted first and scored 208 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. In reply, RCB could score only 200 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Hyderabad won this match by 8 runs. Ben Cutting was chosen player of the match.
RCB has played the finals only three times (2009, 2011 and 2016) out of 17 seasons of IPL. RCB played the IPL 2009 final against Deccan Chargers, IPL 2011 final against Chennai and IPL 2016 final against SRH.
