Hardik Pandya Ruled Out of India A vs Australia A Series: A major update has emerged from the Indian camp just ahead of the three-match ODI series between the India 'A' and Australia 'A' teams. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the series due to injury. The selectors have named Mumbai's rising all-rounder Suryansh Shedge as his replacement in the India 'A' squad.

The series between the two teams will be played in Puducherry on October 6, 9, and 11. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been handed the captaincy for the series, while Devdutt Padikkal will serve as the vice-captain.

Hardik Pandya experienced strain and discomfort in his right calf during a fitness test on September 19. Subsequent MRI scans revealed mild inflammation within the bone of his right leg.

According to medical experts, the issue is related to Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome. Hardik has had to withdraw from the ODI series against Australia 'A' to focus on a full recovery and undergo the necessary rehabilitation process.

Suryansh Shedge, the 23-year-old brought in to replace Hardik Pandya, is an aggressive all-rounder from Mumbai. He is known for his explosive right-handed batting and also bowls useful medium-pace deliveries.

Suryansh has consistently made his mark in domestic cricket and for India 'A' He has also played three T20 International matches for the Indian national team in 2026, representing the country on tours to Ireland, England, and Zimbabwe.

  • India A Tour of Sri Lanka (June 2026): He batted impressively across five innings during the series in Sri Lanka, scoring a total of 147 runs.
  • Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25: Playing for Mumbai, he scored 131 runs in the tournament with a strike rate of 251.92.

Impact on Mumbai's Ranji Trophy Opener

Suryansh's selection for the India A team will also impact Mumbai's domestic cricket schedule. The third ODI between India A and Australia A is scheduled to be played in Puducherry on October 11.

On that same day (October 11), the Mumbai team is set to begin its Ranji Trophy campaign against Chandigarh at Wankhede Stadium. Consequently, due to his national commitments with India A, Suryansh will be unavailable for this opening Ranji match for Mumbai.
