Expectations are no longer quite what they used to be, but Germany will look to return to a winning path at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, since winning the tournament in 2014, their performance in the last two World Cups has been lackluster, and it is expected that this time around, they will be eager to rectify their past mistakes.

When they kick off their campaign on June 14 in Houston, Texas, Julian Nagelsmann and his team will have an opportunity to prove themselves—especially following consecutive group-stage exits in Russia and Qatar, and with their world ranking having slipped to 10th place.

Their decline has been unfortunate, particularly considering their stature as one of the finest teams in this competition; nevertheless, Nagelsmann will be eager to restore his country's former glory at the World Cup. The former Bayern Munich manager has now officially confirmed the squad that will represent the national team at the World Cup next month. This squad features several big names, while a number of players failed to secure a spot.

The coach faces no shortage of talent, and now that the squad has been finalized, it appears—at least on paper—to be one of the strongest teams in the tournament. However, if they are to prove their team's true potential, they must demonstrate it on the pitch—especially on June 14, when Germany plays its opening match against Curaçao, a first-time participant in the World Cup.
