What changes have been made to the UAE squad for the 2026 Asia Cup?
The UAE women's cricket team recently participated in the 2026 ACC Women's Premier Cup held in Malaysia in June. After reaching the final of this 18-team T20I tournament, the UAE suffered a six-wicket defeat against Thailand. Three players who did not play in the Women's Premier Cup—Archana Supriya, Siya Gokhale, and Uttara Iyer—have been selected for the UAE squad for the 2026 Women's Asia Cup.
Archana last played for the UAE in Namibia in September 2024 and is set to make a comeback after a break of nearly two years, while Mumbai-born Siya Gokhale last played during the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament in Bangkok in February this year. Meanwhile, Uttara Iyer, who has not yet played an international match, could make her debut in the 2026 Asia Cup.
What is Isha Oza's record as captain?
Esha Oza has been captaining the UAE women's cricket team in T20Is since 2023. She has led the national team in 54 T20I matches so far, securing 37 wins and suffering only 17 losses. Oza is also the most successful captain in the history of UAE women's cricket, leading the charts in terms of both the highest number of wins and the best win percentage (68.51%).
