The makers of the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Stree 2’ announced on Friday that the upcoming horror comedy film will be released on August 15 this year.
Taking to social media, the makers shared a short, spooky video with ‘Stree’ written in Hindi and red font. The popular horror-comedy series 'Stree' comes back with this film.
Under the auspices of Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Amar Kaushik is the director and Dinesh Vijan is the producer.
Along with Tamannaah Bhatia making a special appearance, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Varun Dhawan (in a cameo as 'Bhediya'). (Agency).
The story revolves around an Indian folktale about a female ghost that kidnaps men at night when they're by themselves and just takes their clothing with them. The people of Chanderi, a town in India, believe in the existence of an enraged woman named 'Stree,' who stalks men, whispers their names behind their backs, and whisks them away when they turn around during the four days of an annual religious festival. Over the years, 'Stree' has been responsible for numerous disappearances.

Stree 2 is a part of the Dinesh Vijan Cinematic Universe, which also features some horror comedies like Bhediya and the recently released Munjya. It welcomes back Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao to the franchise. There is a noticeable buzz about this six-year-old franchise that had its debut with the release of its first episode in 2018, directed by Amar Kaushik.
Although Pushpa 2: The Rule and Singham Again were supposed to be released on August 15, current sources indicate that Pushpa 2's release may be postponed as well, as the film's production is still ongoing. However, T-Series has stated that Khel Khel Mein, a multi-star featuring Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Akshay Kumar, and others, would be released on Independence Day.
