India has got its third medal in Paris Paralympics 2024. This medal has been won by Preeti Pal. She has won the bronze medal in the 100m race. 23-year-old Preeti finished third in the women's 100m T-35 final. With this, she has become the first Indian to win a medal in a track event at the Paralympic Games. Earlier today, Avani Lekhara won the gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle SH1 final event while Mona Agarwal won the bronze medal.
Preeti won the medal in the women's 100m (T35) event with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds. China's Zhou Jia managed to win the gold, while her compatriot Guo Qianqian won the silver medal. Zhou took 13.58 seconds. While Guo took 13.74 seconds. Preeti's bronze medal is India's first medal in para-athletics at the Paris Paralympics.
The T35 category in the Paralympic Games is for para athletes with coordination disorders such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis, and cerebral palsy.
