According to the BCCI source, discussions regarding this matter are underway with the Indian High Commission. The source stated, "The tour of Bangladesh will take place only after government approval. We are in talks with the High Commissioner. Discussions are ongoing, but the final decision will be taken only after the government's approval."
BCCI-BCB relations normal
A BCCI source stated that relations between the Indian board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are now normal. However, no specific dates have been finalized for the tour yet; the series schedule will be determined only after receiving approval from the government.
The source said, "Our relations with the BCB are good, and we are currently awaiting approval from our government. No dates have been set for the series yet; the schedule will be finalized only after the approval is received."
Relations between the two boards had soured in January
- Tensions in India-Bangladesh cricket relations were observed earlier this year.
- In January, the BCCI directed the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL 2026 squad.
- Mustafizur had been bought by KKR for ₹9.20 crore in the December 2025 auction.
- He was the only Bangladeshi player selected for the IPL that year.
- Subsequently, acting on the BCCI's directive, KKR released him from the team.
Bangladesh had refused to play in the T20 World Cup in India
This decision sparked a sharp reaction in Bangladesh. Shortly thereafter, citing security concerns and advice from the Bangladeshi government, the BCB refused to send its national team to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup. The BCB also requested the ICC to move Bangladesh's matches out of India, but the ICC did not accept this request.
Proposal for Indian Team's Tour in September
Cricket relations with India were discussed during a BCB meeting held in Dhaka in April. At that time, the BCB stated that it had sent an email to the BCCI as part of routine communication. The discussion covered the Indian team's proposed tour of Bangladesh in September, the Bangladesh women's team's tour of India, and potential future collaboration between the two boards.
The future of this proposed tour now depends on approval from the Indian government; the dates and schedule for the series will be finalized only after such approval is received.
