On Monday, Ravindra Jadeja of the Chennai Super Kings became the seventh fielder in the Indian Premier League to reach 100 catches. Jadeja reached the milestone with a few nimble takes during the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chepauk. When asked to react to the achievement, Jadeja came up with a clever retort, joining the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Kieron Pollard, and Virat Kohli.
'I don't count my catches,' Jadeja said in response to a question from commentator Harsha Bhogle during the mid-innings intermission.
In addition, Jadeja performed a miracle with the ball, taking three wickets in eight balls to destroy KKR's batting and leave CSK to chase a reasonable total of 138. Tushar Deshpande and Jadeja both scored three-fors, and Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman put up outstanding 4-0-22-2 numbers. Jadeja praised the team's overall ball-handling performance, adding that he and other players received help from the surface.
'I thought Muhammadafizur was amazing; he was very effective on this wicket and bowled very good slower ones.' This pitch transforms and becomes better for batting when dew arrives. It's not a rank turner; there was a sluggish turn. The ball was trying to hit the stumps rather than the bat neatly. Very easily changeable on this track, in my opinion, if we play regular cricket," Jadeja continued. So far in the Indian Premier League, CSK has had two victories and a few losses.
