Harmanpreet Kaur began her international career in 2009, when she received the opportunity to play her first match against Pakistan. At that time, the Indian team was led by the legendary fast bowler Jhulan Goswami. However, Kaur did not get a chance to bat in her debut match, as the Indian top order had already defeated Pakistan before she could take the crease.
Subsequently, on November 10, 2009, she stepped out to bat at the international level for the first time against England, where she scored eight runs. In the same year, Harmanpreet also played her first T20 International match.
