Ever since Elon Musk took charge of Twitter, the company has been making many major changes. The biggest change is the inclusion of paid for 'Blue Tick' subscriptions. The company's new owner Musk himself announced the price for Blue Tick on Twitter on October 2, saying that it would cost $8 a month on Twitter.
Along with this, Musk also announced a new version of Twitter Blue, in which he will give Twitter users priority in replying to posts, mentioning and searching. But the real reason for bringing paid service was that the company was facing severe financial crisis after spending $44 billion. This was the reason that Musk wanted to bring paid service as soon as possible, for this Musk had even issued an ultimatum to the employees to meet the paid verification deadline soon.
Musk is constantly citing the company's poor economic condition as soon as he takes charge of Twitter. In order to reduce the expenditure, he has limited the facilities from the retrenchment of the employees to the facilities provided to them. Despite this, the condition of the company was so bad in December-January that it was not even able to pay the rent of its offices. According to a December 13 report, Twitter was unable to pay rent for its offices and headquarters across the world. Twitter was also sued for nonpayment of rent for its San Francisco office.
Twitter did not pay the $136,250 rent for its San Francisco office. The lessor said it had warned the company on December 16 itself that the lease on the 30th floor of the Hartford building was expiring in five days. He had filed a case on Twitter for not paying the rent.
Twitter owner Elon musk had locked two of his major offices in India including Delhi and Mumbai and many other places. Not only this, Musk had asked his employees to work from home. In fact, along with buying the social media company, Musk was continuously working on reducing its costs.
For this, Musk fired more than 90 percent of his more than 200 employees in India. Not only this, several top executives including Twitter CEO Parag Aggarwal and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Ned Segal were sacked as soon as Musk took over. At the same time, more than 5 thousand contract employees were also fired from the company.
