Why CSK Banned For 2 Years

There were talks about spot-fixing and betting activities in the 2013 IPL season.

In July 2015, the RM Lodha committee suspended Chennai Super Kings owner India Cements for two years (2016–2017) for its involvement in spot-fixing and betting.

Will CSK be banned from IPL again?

There is a demand to ban Chennai Super Kings between IPL 2023. A Tamil Nadu MLA has demanded a ban on CSK. Chennai is one of the most famous franchise of IPL. The MLA says that there is not a single player from Tamil Nadu state in the Chennai team. SP Venkateshwaran, MLA from Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu has raised this demand. SP Venkateswaran says that the Chennai team is making profit from the people, but is not selecting the players from Tamil Nadu.

SP Venkateswaran is an MLA from Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), a regional party. The party had won five seats in the 2021 assembly elections. The party's MLA says that CSK is a brand in the form of Tamil Nadu, but the team lacks players from its own state.

Speaking to news agency PTI, SP Venkateswaran said, “They are making profits from our people through advertisements and projecting it as Tamil Nadu team, but there is no talented player from our state (in the team) .” Venkateswaran had raised the issue in the Vidhan Sabha during the debate on the demand for grants for the Youth Welfare and Sports Development
