The BCCI announced Indias squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia on Monday. Rohit Sharma, who took over for Virat Kohli last year, will captain the team, with KL Rahul serving as his deputy. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel return to the side, while Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant remain.

Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik both made the trip as Indias wicketkeeping conundrum persists. With Jadeja ruled out, the selectors played it safe by including both Axar Patel and Deepak Hooda in the squad, giving Rohit Sharma the freedom to weigh his options.

Lets begin the Deep Analysis breakdown of Team India Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2022

After a disastrous performance in the Asia Cup 2022, Team India will now turn their attention to the much-anticipated T20 World Cup 2022. They may not be the favourites this year after a string of poor performances in recent tournaments, but that may work in their favour as they will be playing without much pressure now.

This is, of course, our first World Cup under Rohit Sharmas captaincy, so it will be interesting to see if his leadership brings us a new trophy. Indias World Cup captaincy begins in about a month, on October 23rd, against archrival Pakistan. In this article well try to analyze the strength, weaknesses and all the factors which are crucial for team India in upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

T20 World Cup 2022: India’s Players to Watch out for

  • Virat Kohli:- While former Indian captain Virat Kohli has been unable to replicate his previous levels of performance in recent years, he recently made a sort of comeback in the recently played Asia Cup, where he finally got his long-awaited 71st International century against Afghanistan. VK is looking for redemption, and what better venue to do so than the T20 World Cup?
  • Dinesh Karthik:- Dinesh Karthik has been simply phenomenal since his return to the Indian national team. Although there is much debate over whether to start Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant in the matches, perhaps we can all agree that when it comes to T20 matches, Karthik has proven to be the better pick time and time again, at least in recent times. This could be Dinesh Karthiks final World Cup, so well have to keep an eye on him to see what hes capable of.
  • Jasprit Bumrah:- We have to admit that Jasprit Bumrah is not only our most important asset, but also one of our most valuable assets overall. Jassi is one of the best pace bowlers in the world, and theres no denying that if he had been in Indias Asia Cup squad, things would have been very different. He has now returned ahead of the T20 World Cup, and we will see how much value he brings to the team.

Now lets analyze about Indias opening batting order for ICC T20 World Cup 2022

  • The always-aesthetic Rohit Sharma has been in good form recently, and his magnificent half-century against Sri Lanka was one for the ages. Rohit was in his own zone as he toyed with the Lankans on a treacherous-looking track. Rohit blazed off in both of the first super four matches against Pakistan, finishing on 28.
  • Rohit is a far more dangerous batsman than his quick 30. If set, he is a one-man match winner, as evidenced by his numbers. As a result, it would be ideal for India if Rohit adopts a measured approach rather than going all bang bang.

  • The position of second opener has been hotly debated, and the most likely candidate, KL Rahul, has done nothing to help his case. With the exception of the Super Four match against Pakistan, Rahul has appeared drab and withdrawn.
  • The most annoying aspect of Rahul is the voluntary limitations he imposes on himself. Despite having all the options, Rahuls tendency to play second fiddle is perplexing.
  • Rahul should ideally not be in the XI given the team composition and the desire to have the left-handed Rishabh Pant in the XI. Instead, the ever-dynamic Virat Kohli should start.

Deep analyze about Indias middle order batting for ICC T20 World Cup 2022

  • Suryakumar Yadav, the unconventional number three, has had the most success in T20 cricket. The Mumbai Indians star is easily Indias best batsman, and given the importance of the number three spot, Yadav must bat there.
  • It is now common knowledge that Rishabh Pants T20I career has been abysmal. For a player so gifted and already an IPL legend, an average of 23 with a strike rate of 126 in 57 games paints a bleak picture.
  • Numbers five and six are self-selected, with Hardik Pandya representing Indias best chance to win their second World T20 title. The 2022 IPL champion captain has reached his peak as a cricketer this year, and batting above his average has done wonders for his game.
  • Dinesh Karthik, like a fine wine, has now played 18 years of international cricket. Karthik, along with Rohit Sharma, is the only surviving member of the 2007 World T20 setup. With two Man of the Match awards this year, Indias designated finisher is a must-have.

Analyze about Indias All-rounders for ICC T20 World Cup 2022

  • Ravindra Jadejas knee surgery is a death blow for the men in blue. If he hadnt been injured, the legendary all-rounder would have chosen himself. Nonetheless, India has a capable replacement ready and waiting.
  • Axar Patel must start and play the role of spin bowling all-rounder. His power hitting has improved recently, as seen in the West Indies, and Axar, who has a career economy rate of 7.34 in 25 matches, will be crucial for India.

Indian Squad main concern is Pacers for ICC T20 World Cup 2022

  • Axar Patel must start and play the role of spin bowling all-rounder. His power hitting has improved recently, as seen in the West Indies, and Axar, who has a career economy rate of 7.34 in 25 matches, will be crucial for India.
  • Its obvious that Kumar is no longer the perfect death bowler he was a few years ago. As a result, the UP pacer is best utilised as a powerplay specialist. Ideally, Kumar should bowl three overs in the powerplay. If there is any swing available, his chances of winning India matches increase tenfold.

  • Despite doubts about Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patels fitness, they are expected to return to the XI. Both pacers rehab progress has been impressive, and both will need to bring their expertise to the flat decks of Australia.
  • Harshal Patel may not have previously toured Australia, but given his versatility, he remains a viable option.
  • The left-arm pacer is a death bowling machine who almost pulled off two incredible last-over finishes. Arshdeeps presence in the squad as a left-arm pacer is an absolute must-have for the Indians, and these trying times will only toughen him up.

Analysis for Indian spinners for ICC T20 World Cup 2022

  • This is a battle of the legs, as Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi are neck and neck. Bishnoi played well against Pakistan and, despite having less international experience than Chahal, is a solid option. One advantage Bishnoi has over Chahal is his speed. Chahal has yet to improve his pace variation and remains a one-dimensional cricketer.
  • The selection of the extra batsman or bowler outside the XI will be the most difficult. While KL Rahul is expected to join the squad, the other spot is still open. There are a few honourable mentions, including potential candidates Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson.
  • Despite not seeing much action recently, Chahar is an excellent backup for Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Deepak Chahars presence in the lower order also provides a much-needed cushion for someone who can tonk the ball quite a bit with the bat.

Analyzing Team Indias Performance in the Asia Cup 2022

  • India was expected to be one of the top two teams in the Asia Cup in 2022. However, they appeared to be off track throughout the tournament. The main reason for Indias defeat was the pace attacks poor performance.
  • In both games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave up a lot of runs in the 19th over, which was one of the main reasons India lost both games. Young Arshdeep Singh bowled well in the slog overs but gave up too many runs during the power play.
  • The batters performed admirably. The biggest advantage India can gain from the Asia Cup 2022 is the return of Virat Kohli. After more than 1000 days, he achieved the long-awaited century.
  • Kohli batted 5 innings and scored 276 runs, including two half-centuries and a century. The team also included Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. The other batters chipped in with crucial hits at critical points in the game. Overall, the bowlers were Indias downfall in the tournament.

  1. Strengths of the Indian Team at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

  2. What are the strengths of Indian squad at T20 World Cup 2022? The Indian teams batting has always been its strongest suit. The top three components are its engine. On their days, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli can hit the ball a long way and win games all by themselves. Power hitters like Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda are also a big plus. These players prefer it when the ball comes on to the bat, which is exactly what the pitches in Australia provide. Death bowling is also a strong suit for Harshal Patel, Bumrah, and Arshdeep.

  3. Weakness of the Indian Team at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

  4. What are the weakness of Indian squad at T20 World Cup 2022? The first 11 will have to try to incorporate one more spin option. Deepak Hooda and Yuzvendra Chahal are both good bowlers, but is this your attacking spin attack? The absence of Ravindra Jadeja will be a source of concern. Axar Patel must be brought in by changing the combination.

  5. Threats of the Indian Team at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

  6. What are the threats to Indian squad at T20 World Cup 2022? The Indian team faces significant threats from player injuries. The BCCI manages workload very well, but players are still prone to injury. Harshal Patel and Bumrah are the top two bowlers in the T20 format, and both have recently undergone rehab. The threat of "too many cooks spoiling the broth" is another. This is due to the fact that there are simply too many high-profile players.

Can this Indian team win ICC T20 World Cup 2022?

Is India Good Enough to Win the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022? India is without a doubt one of the most dangerous teams in the T20 format. They have a few players who can completely alter the course of a game with just a few balls. Virat Kohlis return is a great sign for Team India, as he is an important member of the batting order.

The main source of concern for Team India is their pace bowling attack. Following the injuries to Bumrah and Harshal Patel, they lacked firepower, as evidenced by their bowling. Both bowlers are expected to play in the upcoming three-match T20 series against South Africa and Australia.

However, because they will be returning from injury, it will take some time for them to get into the groove, which is something to consider. India will miss Jadeja, whose absence has left a void in the team, and the balance appears to be off.
