South Africa has unveiled a relatively inexperienced 12-man squad for their opening One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand in Pakistan on Wednesday, February 5th. The squad includes six uncapped players, highlighting the team's focus on building depth and experience ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19th. The tri-series, also featuring Pakistan, will serve as a vital preparation ground for the Proteas as they gear up for the global tournament.
The tri-series will see South Africa face both Pakistan and New Zealand once each, with the final scheduled for February 14th. Temba Bavuma will lead the side in the first ODI against New Zealand. The team welcomes back fast bowler Gerald Coetzee, who has recovered from a left hamstring strain. However, Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen will miss the opening match as they are set to join the squad in Karachi on February 9, ahead of the second ODI against Pakistan.
