Pakistan included umpire Aleem Dar in the selection committee

Pakistan included umpire Aleem Dar in the selection committee: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) changed the selection committee on Friday, October 11, 2024. One of the key people included in the revised selection committee was Aleem Dar. Aleem Dar recently announced his retirement from international umpiring. Aleem Dar is the first umpire to get such a post from the PCB. Just hours before this reshuffle, Pakistan's senior men's cricket team suffered a humiliating defeat by an innings and 47 runs at the hands of England despite scoring more than 500 runs in the first innings of the first Test.

The PCB has changed the national selection committee several times since last year under two different board chairmen. The first task of the renovated selection committee will be to select the team for the remaining two Test matches against England, followed by Pakistan's white-ball team for the series in Australia and South Africa.

Former Test batsman Asad Shafiq was in the committee since the resignation of Mohammad Yusuf as national selector a few days ago. The PCB said that all members will have the right to vote. However, the PCB did not elaborate on whether head coach Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie would remain as voting members in the committee. Let us tell you that in the past, Aaqib Javed has been a bitter critic of the PCB and the team.
