Novak Djokovic wins US Open: 24th Grand Slam of his career

Serbia's Novak Djokovic has won the US Open 2023 title. In the final he defeated Daniil Medvedev of Russia. This is Djokovic's record 24th Grand Slam and fourth US Open men's singles title. She has equaled former Australian tennis star Margaret Court in terms of winning Grand Slam. Djokovic has become the player to win the most titles in men's singles with 24 Grand Slams.

Djokovic's fourth US Open title

This is Djokovic's fourth US Open title. He had previously captured the US Open title in 2011, 2015 and 2018. Djokovic reached the Grand Slam final for a record 36th time and won 24 titles.

Djokovic beats Medvedev in straight sets

In the final played at Margaret Court in New York, Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in a tough match 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. 36-year-old Djokovic won the first set easily 6-3. Medvedev tried to make a comeback in the second set, but Djokovic won the second set also 7-6.


By winning easily 6-3 in the third set, he won his record 24th Grand Slam title. Let us tell you, Djokovic had to face defeat against Medvedev in the final of the US Open in 2021.

First player to win 24 Grand Slams in the Open Era

Djokovic has become the first player in the Open Era to win 24 Grand Slams. Earlier, Djokovic was equal to Serena Williams (23 Grand Slams) in terms of winning the most Grand Slams (Men's and Women's Singles). Margaret Court has also won a total of 24 Grand Slams, but 13 of those titles were in her name before the Open Era.


The Open Era in tennis began in 1968 when all players (amateur and professional) were allowed to participate in all four Grand Slams. This is called Open Era.

Margaret was born in Albury, Australia.

Margaret Court was born on 16 July 1942 in Albury, Australia. Former Australian female tennis player Margaret held the record for winning the most singles Grand Slams, which Djokovic has equaled. He won 24 Grand Slam titles in his career. American young tennis player Coco Gauff won the title by defeating Belarus's Arina Sabalenka in the final of the US Open on Saturday. This is the first Grand Slam title of 19-year-old Gauff's career. After losing the first set, Gauff made a brilliant comeback and won the match 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Gauff became the first American player since 2017 to win this title. This feat was last accomplished by Solan Stephen in 2017. Gauff is the first American teenage player to win the US Open since 1999. Serena Williams did this in 1999.
