On Thursday (May 14), the BCCI announced the India-A squad for the upcoming tri-series to be held in Sri Lanka. Left-handed batsman Tilak Varma has been named captain of the 15-member squad. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been given an opportunity in the team, while the responsibility of vice-captaincy has been entrusted to Riyan Parag. It is noteworthy that the tri-series is scheduled to commence on June 9. The series will feature teams from India-A, Afghanistan-A, and Sri Lanka-A, and will be hosted by Sri Lanka.
A press release issued by the BCCI stated that, in addition to the white-ball series, two two-day matches will also be played between India-A and Sri Lanka-A; the squad for these matches will be announced at a later date. All matches of the tri-series will be played in Dambulla, while the multi-day red-ball matches will take place in Galle.

In this tri-series, all eyes will be on the 15-year-old Indian batsman, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Currently, Vaibhav is playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2026 IPL. Vaibhav has been in blistering form with the bat this season. So far, across 11 innings in 11 matches, he has amassed 440 runs at an average of 40 and a blistering strike rate of 236.56. During this run, he has scored one century and two half-centuries.
