Tilak Varma maiden IPL Century: Tilak Varma has smashed the first century of his IPL career. He completed his century in 45 balls against the Gujarat Titans. With this achievement, he has also equaled the record for the fastest century scored for the Mumbai Indians in the history of the Indian Premier League. In this blistering innings, he scored 101 runs off 45 balls.

Fastest Century for MI:

Tilak Varma completed his century in 45 balls by hitting a four on the final delivery of the innings. Prior to him, Sanath Jayasuriya had completed a century for the Mumbai Indians in 45 balls back in 2008. Now, 18 years later, Tilak Varma has equaled the record for the fastest century for Mumbai.

  • 45 balls – Tilak Varma
  • 45 balls – Sanath Jayasuriya
  • 47 balls – Cameron Green
  • 49 balls – Suryakumar Yadav

82 Runs in 23 Balls:

The Mumbai Indians' innings got off to a disastrous start; by the time the score reached 44, the team had already lost 3 wickets. In this precarious situation, Tilak Varma initially took his time to settle at the crease; at one point, he was batting on 19 runs off 22 balls. However, what followed was absolute carnage, as he smashed 82 runs in just the next 23 balls of his innings.

Mumbai Indians truly achieved something extraordinary. At one point, the team had scored 103 runs in 14 overs; subsequently—thanks to Tilak Varma's explosive batting—Mumbai smashed 98 runs in the final six overs. Hardik Pandya's poor form shows no signs of coming to an end. Hardik had come out to bat as early as the 13th over. It is understandable that Tilak faced more deliveries, as he was in magnificent form; however, Hardik squandered 16 balls and managed to score only 15 runs.
