Two newly-formed teams, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, will take on each other in the 4th match of IPL 2022 on Monday. All eyes will be skipper on Hardik Pandya who is making his captaincy debut in the IPL. Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill are the trump cards for Titans. They will badly miss their opener Jason Roy who opted out of this year’s IPL citing bio-bubble issues and Afghanistan wicketkeeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been announced as his replacement. With a lot of fresh hopes, they will be keen to start their campaign with a win.
Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, are led by star player Lokesh Rahul. They did really well at the auction table and formed a formidable team. Overseas players Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, and Marcus Stoinis will miss the initial matches due to national duties which is a worrying thing for the Giants, however, they still have enough bench strength to fill the void space.
England pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, with Australian Andrew Tye in his place. The third and final Test match between England and West Indies ended on Sunday. Players from both the teams playing in this series will not be available for the match. Jason Holder and Kyle Meyers will not be a part of the team in the first week of IPL. At the same time, Marcus Stoinis of Australia, who toured Pakistan, will also miss the opening match.
Afghanistan wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz has replaced Jason Rai after his exit from the tournament. West Indies fast bowler Alzarri, who played in the Test series against England, will also not be able to play in the opening matches.
Gujarat Titans West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph will miss the first game as he’s currently engaged in the ongoing Test series against England.
Lucknow Super Giants heavy weights like Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, and Andrew Tye would be unavailable for the initial few games.
Shubman Gill is an exciting young prospect who has a bright future ahead of him. In the 17 matches last year, he mustered 478 runs at an average of 28.11 with a best score of 57.
Manish Pandey was picked at a good price of INR 4.6 crores by the Lucknow Super Giants in this year’s auction. In the 8 matches last year, he amassed 292 runs at an average of 48.66 with the highest score of 69*.
Hardik Pandya manages his new role as a skipper. If he can bowl 2-3 overs it will be a bonus for his side. He didn’t have the greatest of tournaments last year where he managed to score only 127 runs in 11 innings.
Krunal Pandya didn’t impress in the previous edition and still managed to attract a good price in the auction and was roped in by Super Giants for a sum of INR 8.25 crores.
Rashid Khan bowls with great intensity and knows how to trouble the batters with his spin variations. He can be fruitful with the bat coming down the order.
Lokesh Rahul knows exactly how to pace the innings and he will be a suitable captaincy pick for your fantasy teams. He ended as the 3rd leading run-getter in the last edition with 626 runs in 13 matches.
The temperature is expected to hover around 31°C on the matchday with 54% humidity and 14 km/hr wind speed. There are no chances of precipitation during the game.
The new ball skids across the surface which is the most challenging part for the batters here. Later, as the game goes on the batters can switch gears. Toss plays a crucial role here and whoever wins has more chances of winning this match.
