The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is named after two of the greatest players - Australia’s Allan Border and the legendary Sunil Gavaskar of India.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is a Test cricket series played between India and Australia. It is played through future tours of the International Cricket Council.
As of January 2021, India retained the trophy after defeating Australia in 2020–21 from two Tests to one with one drawn match. If a series is drawn, the country holding the trophy retains it. The series is named after iconic former captains, Allan Border of Australia and Sunil Gavaskar of India.
In the competition for the trophy since 1996, Indian Sachin Tendulkar has been the most successful batsman, scoring 3262 runs in 65 innings. Indian bowler Anil Kumble is the most successful bowler, taking 111 wickets in 20 matches at an average of 30.32.
A total of 15 seasons have been played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy so far, India has won 9 and Australia has won 5, one season has been drawn. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy season 2023 between India and Australia is starting from February 9, this series will be played till March 13.
