IPL 2024 is over. On Sunday, the title match was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chepauk, Chennai. In this match, Kolkata won by eight wickets and captured the title. The team led by Shreyas Iyer won the title for the third time. Last year, the final match was played between Chennai and Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, which CSK won by five wickets. However, none of the teams that reached the playoffs last year could reach the playoffs this season. Last year, apart from Chennai-Gujarat, Mumbai and Lucknow had reached the finals, this year apart from Kolkata-Hyderabad, Rajasthan-Bengaluru had made it to the last four. IPL is very popular all over the world and the best players of the world are eager to play in this league. Many wonders were seen in the 2024 season also.
This league was started in 2008 and then Rajasthan Royals team won under the captaincy of late Shane Warne. Earlier till 2021, this league was played between eight teams, but for the last three seasons, 10 teams are participating in it. Before that in 2010 also 10 teams had played. Chennai Super Kings, one of the strongest teams of IPL, missed the title in 2008, but the team won the title in 2010. Under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Chennai won the title by defeating Mumbai by 22 runs in the final. Sachin Tendulkar was elected Player of the Tournament.

MS Dhoni's team Chennai Super Kings won the title for the second consecutive season. In the 2011 final, Chennai won the title by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 58 runs. Chris Gayle was the player of the tournament.

In 2012, IPL got a new champion. Kolkata Knight Riders, the team of Bollywood's King Khan Shahrukh Khan, won the fifth season. Under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, KKR defeated Chennai by five wickets in the final. Sunil Narine was the player of the tournament.

IPL got another new champion in 2013. Mumbai Indians won the title under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Mumbai defeated Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs in the final. Shane Watson was named Player of the Tournament.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the title again in IPL 2014. This time again the captain was Gautam Gambhir. In the final, Kolkata defeated Kings XI Punjab by three wickets. Glenn Maxwell, who was in excellent form that season, was chosen Player of the Tournament.

In IPL 2015, Mumbai Indians team once again became the champion. Under the captaincy of Rohit, Mumbai again defeated Chennai in the final. Mumbai Indians won by 41 runs. Andre Russell became the player of the tournament.

The ninth season of IPL was in the name of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Under the leadership of David Warner, Hyderabad performed amazingly in the year 2016. The team won the title for the first time. Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight runs in the final. This was the third time that the Bangalore team had lost in the final. Since then the team has reached the playoffs, but could not reach the finals.

Mumbai Indians team became champion for the third time in IPL 2017. Mumbai had defeated Rising Pune Supergiants by one run in the final match. Pune's Ben Stokes was adjudged Player of the Tournament.

Chennai Super Kings made a comeback in IPL 2018 after a two-year ban. Under the leadership of Dhoni, the team made a tremendous comeback and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final. Sunil Narine of Kolkata was chosen Player of the Tournament this season.

In the final match of IPL 2019, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by one run in a thrilling match and won the IPL title for the fourth time. In this match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and batted first and scored 148 runs for eight wickets. In reply, Chennai team could score only 147 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. KKR's Andre Russell was the player of the tournament.

Due to Corona, IPL 2020 started in September. Mumbai Indians won this season. Mumbai defeated Delhi Capitals by five wickets in the final match and became the most successful team in IPL history. Fast bowler Joffra Archer was the player of the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2021 title. The team defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the final. Batting first, Chennai scored 192 runs for three wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Kolkata team could score only 165 runs in 20 overs. Bangalore's Harshal Patel received the Player of the Tournament award. He took the most wickets in the tournament.

Gujarat Titans team has won the IPL 2022 title. The final match was played between Gujarat and Rajasthan. In the final, Gujarat defeated Rajasthan by seven wickets. Jos Buttler was the player of the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings team became champion for the fifth time. In the final played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, batting first, scored 214 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. After this rain interfered and spoiled two and a half hours of play. The match restarted at 12.10. Under Duckworth Lewis rule, Chennai got the target of 171 runs in 15 overs. CSK achieved this by losing five wickets on the last ball. Shubman Gill became the Most Valuable Player of the tournament i.e. Player of the Tournament.

Kolkata defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final match of IPL 2024. The team led by Shreyas Iyer managed to win the title for the third time. Batting first, Sunrisers team was reduced to 113 runs. Kolkata achieved the target by losing two wickets in 10.3 overs. Sunil Narine became the Most Valuable Player of the tournament i.e. Player of the Tournament.
