A list of top engineering schools in India was recently published by IT magazine Dataquest. The list of top engineering schools is based on the magazine's annual survey of schools, which evaluates them according to several factors including academic environment, campus placement and infrastructure. IIT Mumbai is ranked first on the list of the best engineering colleges of 2011, having been founded in 1958 with assistance from UNESCO and the former Soviet Union. With a final score of 28.6 out of 40, the college earns the No. 2 position in the placement-wise category.

The college came in second place, behind the National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal, in the industry interface ranking, with a score of 3.7 out of 5. IIT Delhi is best known for its undergraduate programs, which include an Integrated Master of Technology Program, a dual-degree Bachelor of Technology/Master of Technology Program, and a Bachelor of Technology program. The primary campus of IIT Delhi is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi, with Sonipat and Jhajjar being the two satellite campuses.
The campus of 325 acres (132 ha) is surrounded by the Hauz Khas area and monuments such as the Qutub Minar and Lotus Temple. IIT Kharagpur is now ranked No. 4 on the list of India's Best Engineering Colleges, down from No. 3 in 2010. The college comes in at No. 7 with a placement score of 25.3 out of 40. The college finished 2022 ranked second in the placement category with a score of 30.2 out of 40. IIT-Kharagpur outperforms other institutions in terms of the academic environment, taking the top spot with a score of 15.7 out of 20.
The college receives a 6.1 out of 10 rating for infrastructure. An independent institution of higher learning with a focus on engineering and technology, IIT Kharagpur was founded by the Indian government in 1951. It was one of the original thirteen IITs to open and is recognized by the Indian government as an Institute of National Importance.

IIIT, Hyderabad, which held that position in 2022 is ranked fifth on the list. With a score of 30, the institute comes out on top in the placement category out of 40. The institute placed third in the placement parameter in the year 2022 with a score of 29.7 out of 40.
However, it appears that the college needs to step up its infrastructure game. It receives 5.8 out of 10 ratings and is ranked No. 10 in the infrastructure category. The following engineering school in the list of top schools for 2023 is BITS, Pilani. The institute climbed three places from its 2010 ranking to sixth place. On the placement parameter the college scores 25 out of 40, placing it at 8th position. BITS, which is based in Pilani, Rajasthan, apart from its home country, also has campuses in Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai in the UAE. City. Bangalore serves as one of its extension centres.
The Seventh Best engineering college on DQ's year 2023 list is the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. Ranked at No. 10 on the placement parameter, the college gets scores of 24.3 out of 40. In the infrastructure segment, the college's fourth position was with a score of 6.8 out of 10.
On the academic environment, the college figures out in the top 10 ranking at No. 7, with a score of 10.4 on a scale of 20. IIT Guwahati is officially recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.
The Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Institute of Technology is ranked as number eight. Compared to its ranking from 2022, the institute has slipped one spot. In the infrastructure and placement categories, the college is not among the top 10. On a scale of 20, the college received a score of 10.9 in the segment assessing the academic environment, placing it fifth overall.
IT-BHU was founded in Varanasi in 1919 and consists of 13 departments and 3 interdisciplinary schools.
National Institute of Technology, Karnataka is ranked 9th in the list, up one place from the 2022 ranking. While the college has not received a top 10 placement in the placement category, the college has been ranked 9th in the infrastructure category with a score of 5.0 out of 10.
It was established in July 1960 as a joint venture between the Government of Karnataka and the Central Government and was named Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal.
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Delhi, is at position 10. The Faculty of Technology at the University of Delhi has jurisdiction over the institute. With a score of 26.1 out of 40 in the placement category, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is ranked no. 5 overall.
