India, 01 October  2026: Karma Foundation, a Pune-based NGO dedicated to the welfare and medical care of stray and community animals, has been honoured as one of the 15 winners of the 7th edition of The Restore Awards®. The United Nations-endorsed awards platform recognises individuals and organisations working across human and planet health.

The recognition was presented at a high-profile gala ceremony at the JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar, Mumbai, in the presence of more than 100 leaders. Senior leaders and doctors formed part of the jury, with the awards bringing together work across health, wellbeing, sustainability and social impact. The occasion was further elevated by The Restore Awards®' digital reach of more than 1 million across global social media platforms.

Selected through a multi-stage evaluation process, with 900 nominees narrowed to 120 finalists and ultimately 15 winners, the recognition reflects Karma Foundation’s growing contribution to advancing animal health within a wider framework of social impact.

For Karma Foundation, this milestone marks an important moment in its continued efforts to support animals affected by injury, illness, cruelty and neglect. The Foundation also provides timely medical attention and compassionate care to animals that often have limited access to treatment.

Speaking on the recognition, Ms. Priya Kailad, Founder and President, Karma Foundation, said, “Being honoured with The Restore Awards® is a meaningful acknowledgement of our work for animals who have no voice of their own. This recognition inspires us to continue advocating for compassion and responsibility towards animal welfare, and we hope it encourages greater collective action to support these vulnerable lives.”

The award also brings wider visibility to these efforts, highlighting the importance of strengthening access to veterinary care and building greater awareness around the needs of stray and community animals, while encouraging a more compassionate and responsible approach to animal welfare.

The organisation is supported by a team of over 40 members, including six full-time veterinarians and surgeons, along with trained caregivers and visiting specialists who ensure continuous care and emergency response.

Karma Foundation’s mission is to make Pune a rabies-free city through sustained sterilisation and vaccination programmes, while gradually expanding into rural India with smaller units focused on education and basic animal healthcare. Its long-term vision is to create a more humane and structured ecosystem for animal welfare through medical care, awareness, and community engagement.
