Cartoons have always been a major source of entertainment, inspiration and attraction for children. Nowadays, things have completely changed as we usually see that today's generation kids are always on their phones or usually busy with their social media and Netflix and Disney hotstar. But we, especially the 90s kids, have spent our entire childhood watching only Hindi/English cartoons on television.

1. Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry is an American animated franchise created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The series revolves around the rivalry between Tom, a house cat, and Jerry, a mouse. Known for their slapstick humor and comedic violence, the cartoons have won seven Academy Awards and have been nominated for a total of 13

The franchise has produced numerous short films, feature films, television series, and comics. In its original run, Hanna and Barbera produced 114 Tom and Jerry shorts for MGM from 1940 to 1958. During this time, they won seven Academy Awards for Best Animated Short Film. After the MGM cartoon studio closed in 1957, MGM revived the series with Gene Deitch directing an additional 13 Tom and Jerry shorts for Rembrandt Films from 1961 to 1962. Tom and Jerry then became the highest-grossing animated short film series of that time, overtaking Looney Tunes. Chuck Jones produced another 34 shorts with Sib Tower 12 Productions between 1963 and 1967. Since then, five more shorts have been produced since 2001, making a total of 166 shorts

The first feature-length film based on the series, Tom and Jerry the Movie, was released in 1992. Thirteen direct-to-video films have been produced since 2002, with one live-action/animated hybrid film released in 2021. A musical adaptation of the series titled Tom and Jerry Pur-Chance to Dream debuted in Japan in 2019 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Tom and Jerry.

Doraemon is a Japanese manga series created by Fujiko F. Fujio in December 1969. The story revolves around an earless robotic cat named Doraemon, who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a boy named Nobita Nobi. The manga series was published by Shogakukan from 1974 to 1996 and has a total of 45 tankōbon volumes

Chhota Bheem is an Indian animated comedy adventure television series created by Green Gold Animations based in Hyderabad. The show is available in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages. The series revolves around the adventures of a young boy named Bheem, who is brave, strong, and intelligent. Bheem is a well-loved figure in the village of Dholakpur, known for his good heart and helping hand. His closest friends are Chutki, Raju, and a talking monkey called Jaggu.

4. Oggy and the Cockroaches

Oggy and the Cockroaches is a French animated comedy television series created by Jean-Yves Raimbaud for Gaumont Multimedia and Xilam Animation. The show revolves around the life of Oggy, a blue cat, who is constantly pestered by three cockroaches named Dee Dee, Marky, and Joey. The series employs silent comedy, with characters either not speaking or using unintelligible vocalizations and gestures.

The show premiered in September 1998 on France 3 and has since expanded internationally. It has released a total of seven seasons over two decades. In September 2020, a reboot series titled Oggy and the Cockroaches Next Generation was announced, where Oggy takes care of Piya, a young elephant from India. The reboot series was released worldwide on Netflix on July 28, 2022

5. Mr. Bean

Mr. Bean The Animated Series is a British animated sitcom produced by Tiger Aspect Productions in association with Richard Purdum Productions and Varga Holdings (for the first season) . The series is based on the popular live-action television sitcom of the same title created by Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis. It centers around the life of Mr. Bean, Teddy, Irma Gobb, and the Reliant Regal’s mysterious driver, Mrs. Wicket, who originated from Mr. Bean’s Diary and is Bean’s landlady with the new addition of her evil cat Scrapper. The series employs silent comedy, with characters either not speaking or using unintelligible vocalizations and gestures.

The series premiered on January 5, 2002, on ITV (CITV) and originally ended on June 2, 2004. The first three series featuring 52 episodes in total were broadcast, each consisting of two 11-minute segments. The first two series were originally broadcast on ITV at a prime time Saturday night slot. In May 2004, the series left the Saturday night prime time timeslot on ITV following the broadcast of the first two series, and the third series was instead broadcast daily on CITV due to the show’s popularity with younger audiences.

In January 2014, a revival of the series was announced, with Rowan Atkinson returning as the voice of Mr. Bean, along with other cast members reprising their roles. The revival featured two new series and 78 episodes; it premiered on February 16, 2015, and ended on October 8, 2019, on CITV

6. Shin-Chan

Shin-Chan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshito Usui. It made its first appearance in 1990 in a Japanese weekly magazine called Weekly Manga Action, published by Futabasha. The series follows the adventures of the five-year-old Shinnosuke Shin Nohara and his parents, baby sister, dog, neighbors, and best friends. The anime adaptation of the manga began airing on TV Asahi in 1992 and is still ongoing with over 1,000 episodes. It has been dubbed in 30 languages and aired in 45 countries

7. Ninja Hattori

Ninja Hattori-kun is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Motoo Abiko (initially credited as Fujiko Fujio and later as Fujiko Fujio A) which was serialized between 1964 and 1988. It was later adapted into a television drama that aired on TV Asahi from 1966 to 1968, an anime series by Shin-Ei Animation, airing on Asahi from 1981 to 1987, a video game by Hudson Soft, four anime films by Shin-Ei, and a live-action film. A remake of the 1981 anime series produced by Shin-Ei and the Indian animation firms Reliance MediaWorks and later Green Gold Animations has aired since 2013.

The story revolves around 10-year-old Kenichi Mitsuba, an average kid who goes to secondary school and struggles with his studies. He is very stubborn and lazy, often frustrating his parents and teachers. Kenichi becomes best friends with Kanzo Hattori, a young ninja who is named after his ancestor Hattori Hanzō. Hattori becomes a part of the Mitsuba family along with his brother Shinzo and his ninja dog, Shishimaru

8. Roll No. 21

Roll No. 21 (also known as Krish) is an Indian animated television series produced by Cosmos Entertainment. The show is available in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. The series follows the adventures of Krish, an intelligent and naughty kid who stays at an orphanage school along with his friends - Pinky, Babloo, and Madhu. An evil demon king, posing as principal Kanishk (incarnation of Kansa), is out to create havoc in the school. He has ulterior motives to take over the world with his army of zombie demons. To save his friends and school from annihilation, Krish prays to Lord Vishnu and is blessed with superpowers. Armed with a magical peacock feather and a flute, Krish is ready to take on Kanishk. Kanishk with the help of his minions always tries to takedown Krish and often brings demons from Paataal Nagri to do so but always fails

Motu Patlu is an Indian animated sitcom that premiered on Nickelodeon in India on 16 October 2012. The series is adapted from the classic comic strip Lotpot. It focuses on two friends, Motu and Patlu, who often find themselves in trouble and comical situations, later being rescued only by luck. The show is available in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages.

The series has become one of the most popular kids’ shows in India and has gained a large fan base. It showcases the adventures of Motu, who loves samosas, and Patlu, the intelligent one. 10. Pokemon
