South Africa had set a target of 263 runs for West Indies, but its team was all out for 222 runs. The first Test match between the two teams was drawn due to rain. Now a series of three T20 international matches will be played between West Indies and South Africa.
This is the 10th consecutive time that South Africa has won the Test series against West Indies. Maharaj, who took two wickets in the first innings, took three wickets for 37 runs in the second innings. Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took three wickets for 50 runs. For West Indies, number nine batsman Gudakesh Moti scored the highest 45 runs. Maharaj has taken his total number of wickets in Test cricket to 171 and thus he has become South Africa's most successful spinner. He surpassed Hugh Tayfield. Maharaj took 13 wickets in the current series against West Indies.
Earlier, South Africa resumed their innings from 223 runs for five wickets but their entire team was bowled out for 246 runs. West Indies had a target of 263 runs but their top order batsmen failed. Moti and Joshua Da Silva (27) raised hopes by sharing 77 runs but Maharaj ensured South Africa's victory by dismissing both of them. South Africa batted first and scored 160 runs in their first innings. In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 144 runs.
