Neeraj Chopra is counted among the great players of India. He is the only player to win two medals in javelin throw at the Olympics for India. He created history by winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. After this, he won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Now his Paris Olympics jersey has been included in the World Athletics Heritage Collection.
Star javelin player Neeraj Chopra is among the 23 athletes whose tournament artifacts have been included in the World Athletics Heritage Collection, currently displayed on the online 3D platform of World Athletics Heritage. Chopra, who became India's first Olympic gold medalist in athletics at the Tokyo Olympics, has donated the tournament T-shirt he wore at the Paris Games this year.
Neeraj Chopra finished second at the Paris Olympics with a throw of 89.45m, behind Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem (92.97m). Apart from Chopra, Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh (World Athletics' female 'Field Event Athlete of the Year') and her fellow Paris Olympic medalist Thea Lafond are among the athletes whose competition artifacts have been included in the Heritage Collection.
Fourth Indian to win two medals at the Olympics
Neeraj Chopra is the first Indian to win gold at the World Athletics Championships. He won the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year. Apart from this, he is the fourth Indian to win two medals at the Olympics in independent India. Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu, Manu Bhaker have also won two medals in the Olympics.
