CWG 2026 Day 2, India Schedule: Schedule for Indian athletes on the 2nd day of Commonwealth Games
The 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games kicked off on Thursday. Today marks the second day of the event, which is taking place in the Scottish city of Glasgow. A contingent of 125 Indian athletes is representing the country across eight sports. On the opening day, Lovlina Borgohain secured India's first medal in the 75kg category. She received a direct entry (bye) into the semi-finals, where she is set to face T.K.B.P. Tafaki on July 31.
It is worth noting that in boxing, both losing semi-finalists are awarded a bronze medal; therefore, Borgohain is guaranteed a medal. On the second day, India will aim to win more medals through its strong para-powerlifting team, while swimmers, gymnasts, and boxers begin their respective competitions.
India's medal hopes for the second day of the Commonwealth Games rest on para-powerlifting. Several lifters will compete in the men's and women's finals at the SEC Armadillo. Ashok and Paramjeet Kumar will participate in the men's lightweight final, while Jaspreet Kaur and Suman Devi will compete in the women's lightweight final. In the boxing ring, Jadumani Singh will launch India's campaign in the men's 55kg category.
