The USA Men's Cricket Team possesses one of the longest histories in international sports, dating back to the first-ever international cricket match against Canada in 1844 .
Despite these deep roots, the sport spent over a century eclipsed by baseball, re-entering modern international cricket via the 1979 ICC Trophy and qualifying for the 2004 Champions Trophy . For decades, the team's progress was severely hindered by administrative dysfunction and multiple ICC suspensions over governance and finance , culminating in the expulsion of its old board in 2017 in favour of USA Cricket .
2019: The ICC reinstated Associate status, allowing the USA to play official ODIs and T20Is.
2021: Secured their first win over a Full Member team by defeating Ireland in Florida.
2024: Defeated Bangladesh 2-1 in a historic T20I series victory.
2024 T20 World Cup: Co-hosted the tournament and shocked the world by defeating Pakistan in a Super Over to reach the Super Eight stage.
Commercial Growth: The launch of Major League Cricket (MLC) brought heavy Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise investment to the country.
Ongoing Hurdles: Despite on-field success, governance issues returned, resulting in another ICC suspension in 2025 for failing to meet membership terms.
