The IPL is the world's largest cricket league. For years, there has been a tradition of organizing a closing ceremony prior to the final match. However, no closing ceremony was held before the IPL 2026 final. Ahead of the title clash, various claims had surfaced suggesting that several major stars—including Kailash Kher—might deliver live performances; however, all those claims proved to be false.

Prior to the final, it was claimed that veteran Bollywood singer Kailash Kher would add a touch of grandeur to the closing ceremony with a spectacular performance. In addition to him, Gujarati folk singer Arvind Vegda was also expected to perform live. Stand-up comedian Devansh Shah was also anticipated to be part of the event.

Furthermore, media reports claimed that Bollywood stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde would grab headlines with their presence at the Narendra Modi Stadium ahead of the final match. A video also went viral on social media, asserting that Kailash Kher would perform live during the closing ceremony and that a drone show would also be featured. However, all claims regarding the presence and performances of any major artists have proven to be false.

BCCI had not made an announcement

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had not issued any confirmation regarding the closing ceremony. Prior to this, the BCCI had also made no announcement concerning the opening ceremony. Furthermore, the Board had not organized an opening ceremony either.

Speaking of the final match, the Bengaluru team won the toss and elected to bowl first. This marks the first time that the Gujarat and Bengaluru teams are facing each other in an IPL final.
