Rajat Patidar Joins Elite Dhoni, Rohit Captaincy Club: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has scripted history. In the IPL 2026 final, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets to claim the trophy for the second consecutive time. RCB successfully chased down Gujarat's target of 156 runs in just the 18th over. RCB a team that went 17 seasons without winning a single title, has now won two consecutive titles (in the 18th and 19th seasons) under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar.

Rajat Patidar's IPL Captaincy Record and Success

Rajat Patidar has emerged as the most successful captain of the last six years. He is the only captain of this decade, which began in 2021, to have won the IPL title twice in a row. Prior to this, Hardik Pandya (GT) in 2022–2023 and Shreyas Iyer (KKR/PBKS) in 2024–2025 had reached two consecutive finals but fell short of setting this record.

Joining the Elite Club of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma

Before Rajat, only two captains in the IPL had achieved the feat of winning 'back-to-back' titles:

  • MS Dhoni (CSK): Years 2010 and 2011
  • Rohit Sharma (MI): Years 2019 and 2020

Now, by winning two consecutive trophies in 2025 and 2026, Rajat Patidar has also added his name to this exclusive list of legends.

RCB's performance under Rajat's captaincy has been exceptionally strong.
