PCB, Will Babar Azam become the captain of Pakistan team again: After the ODI World Cup last year, there were major changes in the team and Babar Azam had to leave the captaincy of all three formats. However, now once again there are signs of major change. According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is once again in favor of making Babar the captain. Not even four months have passed since Babar left the captaincy and PCB is considering making him the captain again in all three formats. According to reports, the PCB no longer has confidence in the ability of Shan Masood and Shaheen Shah Afridi to lead the national team.
Babar stepped down from captaining Pakistan in all formats during the ODI World Cup in India last year after the team failed to progress beyond the group stage. After this, Masood was made the captain in Test format while Shaheen was made captain in T20. Sources in the PCB think tank said the board has come to the conclusion that with no alternatives available, Babar is the best choice to lead the team again.
'Interestingly, with the change in the post of Board President, the confidence in the ability of Shan Masood and Shaheen Shah Afridi to lead the national team in Test and T20 formats has reduced. The source said that the interesting thing is that Babar is now showing his attitude. Some trusted people have been sent to Babur to find out whether he is ready to assume power again. Babar did not say anything clearly.
Immediately after the World Cup, when Zaka Ashraf was the PCB chairman, Babar was dropped as captain in the white-ball format. After this he also decided to leave the post of red-ball captain. Babar was the captain in all formats since 2020, but due to poor performance in the Asia Cup and World Cup, he was removed from the captaincy. "During Zaka's tenure, Shaheen was seen as the one who revolutionized Pakistan cricket as T20 captain as he won two finals for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League," the source said. Now it seems that with the change in the board his popularity has diminished very quickly.
Shaheen not only lost his first series as captain in New Zealand (1-4), but he also looked unable to take Lahore Qalandars to the playoffs this year. His team remained at the bottom of the points table in PSL. Current president Mohsin Naqvi was heavily dependent on the advice of former players in taking important decisions. After the return of experienced players like Imad Wasim and Mohammad Aamir from retirement, it has also been decided that along with Babar, Mohsin will also meet both of them soon so that any kind of misunderstanding can be cleared.
