Pakistan Cricketer Reacts to Sarfaraz Inclusion in India Test Squad

Following the announcement on Monday that KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja will not be playing in the second Test against England due to injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made many changes to their roster. Because of their removal, the board was able to include Washington Sundar and Sourabh Kumar on the roster and give Sarfaraz Khan his first call-up to the Indian Test team. Social media greeted Sarfaraz's first call-up by clapping with delight. Sarfaraz has been a reliable scorer in domestic cricket and has been waiting for this day.

One of the first players to congratulate Sarfaraz on his call-up for a Test match was India's Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai. However, congratulations also came from Pakistan's opening batsman, Imam-ul-Haq, who also wished the Indian player well.

'Congratulations brother So Happy for you,' Imam-ul-Haq posted on Twitter's predecessor platform, X.

Regarding the ailments, Rahul reported experiencing soreness in his right quadriceps, and Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury while trying for a fast single on Sunday.

Rahul's right thigh injury from playing in the IPL in May of last year was also concerning. He had to have surgery to repair the injury, which kept him out of the game for four months. 'Mr Ravindra Jadeja and Mr KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 02, 2024,' the BCCI announced in a press statement.

'The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo' said the statement.

India, who are under pressure after losing just their fourth Test at home since 2013, are in a worse situation now that Jadeja and Rahul have sustained injuries. Virat Kohli was already out for the first two Tests for personal reasons.

Before England pulled off a stunning comeback to win the first Test by 28 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, both Rahul and Jadeja had contributed significantly in that contest. Rahul scored 86 in the first innings, but Jadeja took five wickets and made 87.

Jadeja's versatility is a great asset to the group. Jadeja may be replaced in the starting eleven by off-spinner Sundar, who has shown a lot of promise in his four-Test career. Rahul has been in excellent form in both the ODI and Test formats since he returned from injury during the Asia Cup in September. His workload was increased by taking wickets in the World Cup of ODIs and, more recently, the Test series in South Africa. Despite Sarfaraz's well-earned call-up, there's a greater likelihood that Rajat Patidar, who was already in the 15, will make his Vizag debut.
