The England cricket team has suffered a major setback. England fast bowler Mark Wood will not be able to play cricket this year due to a right elbow injury. His medical report has revealed that Wood has a stress injury in the bone of his right elbow. He had some trouble in his elbow during the Test series against the West Indies at the beginning of the summer.
He bowled in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Emirates Old Trafford. Wood also suffered a right thigh injury during that Test match. The England Cricket Board's medical team is working on Wood's injury.
England has to play Test series against Pakistan in October and New Zealand in December. Wood will not be able to play this series now. The England team will tour India early next year. Mark Wood is likely to be fit by then. The Champions Trophy is also to be played in 2025.
