The 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise teams have been asked to submit their retained players list by November 15. A senior official of a franchise gave this information on Sunday.
The BCCI is understood to have started preparations for the next season of the IPL and a small auction will be held in Bengaluru in the third week of December. It is also learned that the ceiling of total salary for the next session is also likely to be increased from Rs 90 crore to Rs 95 crore.
During the auction, the franchisees can bid for the players and they will have the amount in their account that was left with them after spending on the players in the last big auction. Apart from this, the amount given to the players who have left them and sent them back in the auction will also be added to their account.
It is expected that most franchises will keep 15 key players and the rest will be sent to auction so that they have at least Rs 10 crore to bid. After the last auction, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings are left with Rs 3.45 crore and Rs 2.95 crore, respectively, while Lucknow Supergiants have spent their entire amount.
Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have Rs 10 lakh left from last season while defending champions Gujarat Titans have Rs 15 lakh. Kolkata Knight Riders has Rs 45 lakh left while Rajasthan Royals has Rs 95 lakh. Royal Challengers Bangalore has Rs 1.55 crore left. At the same time, IPL 2023 can be started from the last week of March next year and in this all 10 teams will compete with some new players for the title win.
