In a special video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Shreyas Iyer stated that his experience since arriving in Tokyo has been wonderful. He mentioned that he had heard many positive things about Japan and is excited to have the opportunity to experience the country firsthand.
"It is beautiful. Upon landing here, we observed that the people are very friendly, generous, and helpful. We see a similar atmosphere back home. The hospitality here is fantastic. It is too early to say much more, but I have always heard great things about Japan and Tokyo, so I am eager to get to know the country better."
Unfamiliar Pitch Conditions But High Enthusiasm for Maiden T20 International
This match will be the first official T20 International played between the national cricket teams of the two countries. Captain Iyer acknowledged that the Indian team lacks extensive experience with the pitches and local conditions in Japan; nevertheless, the entire squad is fully prepared to face this challenge.
He further added:
"This promises to be a thrilling and exciting contest for us. We will be taking the field against Japan for the first time. Although we aren't very familiar with the local conditions and the nature of the wicket, we are eager to put on a fantastic performance."
