The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken a historic decision to completely revamp its domestic cricket structure. The board has greenlit a new, comprehensive six-team competition in which all three formats First-Class (four-day), List-A (One-Day), and T20 will be played under a single integrated framework.

The BCB board officially approved this far-reaching proposal during a virtual meeting held on September 20, 2026. According to the plan, the inaugural phase of the competition could kick off with the T20 format in December 2026. However, the exact dates for the tournament are yet to be announced.
Corporate Ownership and 3-Year Franchising Model
Under this new model, the BCB is preparing to hand over ownership of all six teams to reputed corporate houses and financial institutions. Initially, these private entities will be granted ownership rights for a period of three years. The primary objective of this move is to attract private investment into Bangladeshi domestic cricket and make the teams financially self-reliant. As of now, the identities of the buyers and owners of these six teams have not been disclosed.
Unified Tri-Format Structure Starting with T20
This new competition will be multi-format in nature, featuring four-day First-Class matches, List-A One-Day games, and List-A T20 contests.

Significant Match Fee Hike for Domestic Players

Alongside the new competition structure, the BCB has also significantly increased match fees for men, women, and junior players:
Men's Cricket Match Fees
- 4-Day (First-Class) Match: 1.5 lakh Bangladeshi Taka
- ODI Match: 1 lakh Taka
- T20 Match: 80,000 Taka
- NCL Second Team Players: 15,000 Taka per match
Women's Cricket Match Fees
- 3-Day Match: 40,000 Taka
- ODI Match: 30,000 Taka
- T20 Match: 20,000 Taka
Under-19 Players
- Daily Allowance: Increased from 10,000 Taka to 20,000 Taka.
A New Commercial Era for Bangladesh Cricket
Through this new six-team format and corporate involvement, the BCB aims to bring high-level professionalism and structural stability to the country's domestic cricket. Bringing all three formats under one umbrella and integrating the private sector is expected to significantly strengthen the Bangladeshi cricket ecosystem from both economic and sporting perspectives.
