Uttar Pradesh bowler Shivam Mavi will lead the Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy starting June 28. The team will include Mavi's fellow UP compatriots Rinku Singh, Dhruv Jurel and Saurabh Kumar. Rinku Singh, who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, created a lot of buzz in the 16th season of the league.
Rinku became the talk of the town after hitting Gujarat Titans for five consecutive sixes in the last five balls of the last over. However, after the brilliant performance of Rinku Singh in IPL, there was a demand to include him in Team India. After this, now Rinku has got a chance to join a big team.
Northeast Zone announced that Nagaland batting all-rounder Rongsen Jonathan will lead the team. Nilesh Lamichhani has been named as the vice-captain in the Northeast Zone squad. A camp will be organized for 11 days from June 12 to 23 at the Nagaland Cricket Association ground.
Sikkim's Sonam Palden Bhutia will be the coach of the Northeast Zone, while Manipur's Th. Kamlesh will be the physio of the team. Meghalaya's Vikas S. Chauhan will be the trainer of the team. Dister Marbaniang has been named as the manager while the BCCI has been requested to nominate a performance specialist and masseur.
The Duleep Trophy final is to be held on July 16. Please tell that after 2019, Duleep Trophy could not be organized for two years. In Kovid-19, where many cricket tournaments of the world were canceled, its effect on Duleep Trophy was also clearly visible.
