Nathan Ellis Ruled Out Due to Side Strain, Returns Home for Recovery

Nathan Ellis has been sidelined for the series finale due to a side strain. He sustained the injury after bowling just four overs during the second ODI on Sunday and was unable to complete his spell. Australia felt the impact of Ellis's absence in the second match, where South Africa posted a massive total of 365 runs while batting first.
Ellis will now return home to Australia for further treatment and recovery. He is expected to be fully fit in time for the home ODI series against England, which begins on November 13.
Joel Davies Suffers Hamstring Strain During Fielding Duty

Joel Davies, included in the squad as a specialist spinner, did not get a chance to play a single match in the series. However, he suffered a hamstring strain while fielding as a substitute during the second ODI. Due to this injury, he too has been ruled out of the third ODI. Davies will now have to undergo a rehabilitation process before playing domestic cricket for New South Wales.

Australia Expected 11 Changes: Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc Set to Return

Despite the loss of two players, Cricket Australia has not announced any replacements for the third ODI. However, significant changes to the playing XI could be seen:
- Pat Cummins: Captain Pat Cummins is almost certain to return to the team, replacing Ellis.
- Mitchell Starc: Veteran fast bowler Mitchell Starc could be included in the playing XI for the third match after being rested for the second ODI.
- Josh Hazlewood: Josh Hazlewood, who played in both of the opening matches, might be rested for the final game.
